Thanksgiving Weekend

We stayed at home for Thanksgiving again this year - the Ussery three. We enjoy spending time with our families at the holidays, but have also loved being at home too!

The Tuesday before (which is our normal grocery day) we went to stock up on everything we would need for our Thanksgiving meal and desserts and for the weekend snacks. We planned to decorate for Christmas over the weekend and it's tradition to have snacks and finger foods while we decorate.

Parker is a lover of grocery shopping, as am I, so we are a perfect pair and he's a happy helper!

We also made place cards for our table. Three things I love - crafting, time with Parker and festive touches around our home.
Ussery, party of three... Your table is ready!
We had quite a feast and lots of leftovers for the weekend.  I love making all of the Thanksgiving food - one of my favorite days of the year!  We combine both of our families traditional food and recipes.  It was mighty tasty if I do say so.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!  We ate coffee cake for breakfast, watched the parade, played around the house, cooked and ate lunch, watched the Cowboys game, packed up our fall decorations, enjoyed leftovers and cherished our sweet family time.
Silly selfie during the game.
On Thanksgiving night, our elf Jolly arrived from the North Pole while Parker was sleeping.  He set the table for a fun pancake breakfast the next morning.  He also brought Parker a new Christmas book to kick off the season.

He was so excited to see him!
He started his daily visits from there and will be around until Christmas.  Parker loves to find him each morning and see what he's up to.

Thanksgiving weekend was cold and rainy!! Except for church, we didn't leave the house for several days.  I think we got 7-8" of rain over the course of the weekend.  It was nice because it forced us to stay inside.  We decorated the whole inside of the house for Christmas, watched movies, worked on Christmas cards, listened to Christmas music, relaxed and did lots of playing.  It was a blast and I'm glad the weather gave us that time together.

Like I mentioned, we did go to church Sunday morning so it was the perfect time to start wearing all of our cute Christmas clothes.
We had a wonderful time celebrating Thanksgiving and transitioning into all of the Christmas fun.

I'm so thankful for these boys - the fill my heart and life with love and joy!  I'm so grateful to be John's wife and Parker's Mommy.  I love our little family. It is well with my soul.

Until we meet again...
Riley

  2. Wow, I like your Jolly's back. Is it for some practical purpose or some aesthetics? Nice to hear good news from the fabulous family!

  3. I admire a lot all the decorations and especially Santa caps on yours heads on the photos! By the ways, is it some collection of crosses on the wall?
