Mother's Day Weekend

Image
We had a really nice Mother's Day weekend. It was of course extra special because it was my first Mother's Day!  This was a long awaited day for me - the special day I could finally celebrate being a Mom.  I wasn't sure the day would ever come, but in good time it did!  I am so thankful for the gift of being a mom. It’s such a treasured responsibility. I am so thankful the Lord entrusted me to be Parker's Mommy.  Motherhood is a hard job, but such a rewarding one. Here are a couple of pictures of me with my sweet little son.  I love him so much! John's Mom and Dad (Mark and Karen a.k.a. Grandma and Grandad) were in town this weekend.  The came in Thursday evening and went home Sunday after church. We had a really fun weekend spending time together. It was pretty low key, but very nice. They sure enjoyed hanging out with their grandson.   While they were here, we went to visit Mark's sister Wanda that...

First Mother's Day!

Image
Riley, This is your very first Mother’s Day, and I just want to say thank you and tell you how much I admire you for being such an amazing Mom to Parker.  While the eleven weeks since our precious little boy was born have obviously been a joyous time, they have also been very difficult and challenging (especially those first few weeks).  There was night after night of little to no sleep, constant feedings, all kinds of conflicting and contradictory information, suggestions, and opinions from doctors and nurses, and various other struggles.  And, through it all, you have been strong, patient, and loving, and you’ve done whatever you’ve had to do to make sure our little Parker has been taken care of like he’s needed to be.  And all the while, you’ve continued to be the amazing wife that you’ve always been, and you’ve continued to take care of our home and be the incredible domestic engineer that you so love to be.  I really don’t know how you do all that ...

10 Weeks ~ 10 Loves

Image
Parker is 10 weeks old today!  In celebration of his 10 weeks of life, I thought I would share 10 things he loves.  There are much more productive things I could be doing, but this sounded more fun.  Plus it's a good excuse to share a couple of pictures of our adorable baby boy.  Does that smile not just melt your heart and make you happy?  It does mine! This list might be overload, but this blog serves as a journal for us too so I want to make sure and document all of this anyway I can.  Without further ado, Parker LOVES... (in random order) A moving car ~ Parker does really well in the car as long as it's moving.  He does have times where he's content if the car is stopped, but not too many.  He loves the motion and movement of the car and does so well in his car seat, but put on the brakes and we have an unhappy camper.  We are thankful though.  We've heard lots of stories of babies that hate their car seat whet...

Two Months Old

Image
Parker Holt, you are two months old!  You went from this newborn baby...   To this one month old...   To this two month old... My two favorites this month with your precious smile! As of April 24th, you weigh 9 pounds - 15 ounces and are 22 1/2 " long.  We found that out at your 2 month well visit today.  You Dr. appointment went really well and he said you look fantastic.  You will go back on June 26th for your 4 month check-up and shots.  You were a champ with your shots.  You did cry, but you were just  fine afterwards and took a good nap.  Mommy on the other hand had a hard time watching you get your shots.  I know they are for your own good, but hard to see you hurting.      You are now wearing size 1 diapers.  Sadly, you have outgrown your newborn clothing and are wearing mostly size 0-3 months or 3 month clothing these day...
