Full Weekend
Even though it is now Tuesday, it's never too late for a weekend re-cap! We had a nice weekend, but stayed fairly busy from start to finish. Friday night we walked in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life! It is such a wonderful, powerful experience if you ever have a chance to be a part of it. We had set a goal to raise $500 and we raised $1,040 - AMAZING! Thank you to all of you that supported our efforts. Cancer has affected the lives of people in both of our families, so it's a cause near and dear to our hearts. Our church had a team called the P.E.A.C.E Walkers with P.E.A.C.E standing for Pray Everyday - A Cure Eventually! We were there most of Friday night and to reward ourselves for our walking we went to Chili's for coffee and dessert - mmm!
We go back home for the cross-town rival game each year...let's hope we actually win this year. Yes, I graduated 12 year ago, but Once a Broncho, Always a Broncho! Also while I'm in town I am helping host a baby shower for my best friend (of 15 years) Carianne on Saturday afternoon...She is due to have OWEN on November 20th and I'm very much looking forward to her baby shower on Saturday. It's going to be a GREAT time and I'm sure she will be "showered" with so many wonderful gifts and memories. This is such an exciting time for her and Austin and not too much longer until they get to meet their new son.
Saturday morning we had a few errands to run, groceries to buy and a little maintenance work to be done on the car. We spent the afternoon around the house being productive with various things. For dinner, we made a few yummy snacks and John made brownies for dessert. We had what we call an "In House Date Night" and spent the evening playing board games and watching college football and Saturday Night Live - we didn't go to bed until about 1am Sunday. Here are a couple of game pictures and one of Calvin just hangin' while we played...Saturday night Scrabble - we are such party animals...haha!!
Sunday was fairly typical for us - Sunday school, church, lunch, calls to family, naps, watching football, working on things around the house...a nice Sunday. John also had a church softball game Sunday evening and they won - hooray!! It is their first victory this season.
We are looking forward to a shorter work week (off on Friday) because we are heading to big "O-TOWN" Thursday afternoon...that's Odessa (good ol' West Texas). We are looking forward to seeing and spending the weekend with my family there. We were last in Odessa in July, so it's always good to go back, see everyone and get a taste of home. Exciting and fun!! We are going to the big OHS vs PHS high school football game Friday night. This is us at last year's game...
We will certainly have many pictures of family, football and the baby shower from this weekend so stay tuned for that! Until then, have a great week!
:) Riley
YAY for weekends when we are both in Odessa!! I can't wait!
