There's No Candy Like Easter Candy

Image
One of my favorite things about Easter is all the CANDY! Of all of the holidays, Easter has the best candy...it's almost overwhelming. It's a really good thing all of this sugary deliciousness only comes out once a year or I would be in T-R-O-U-B-L-E! I love our friend in the picture above - Mr. Hollow Bunny. So chocolaty and good! This sounds really weird (oh well...I have many quirks), but I love to bite the ears off of the top, pour milk inside the hollow bunny and drink the milk as I eat away. I don't even remember why or how I started doing that, but it's an annual ritual. Here are a few more Easter favorites that are yummy to my tummy... And my most favorite Easter candy... Oh my - the yummiest of all is the Cadbury Creme Egg. I've always loved these and look forward to eating one or ten every Easter - hah! I can taste one now - mmmm. I've already had Peeps, Robin Eggs and Chicks & Rabbits this Easter season, but I still need to have a hollow choc

Happy 1st Birthday, Blog!

It's a blogging birthday! It's hard to believe that 1 year ago today, we started this blog. This is our 115th post. WOW - we've blogged about 114 things/events before today. I wish that I could spend more time blogging, but with our busy schedule, I just try to blog as much as I can. I know we don't have many viewers or readers, but we still enjoy it. We have family and friends here, there and everywhere, so we started this online scrapbook/journal of sorts as a way for them to keep up with what's going on in our lives. We can share stories and pictures from all sorts of stuff happening with us. We can also use the blog to look back on our memories as well! Thanks for letting us share our lives with you - have a wonderful day! Until we meet again... Riley

A visit from the Billett Family

Image
We had some visitors last weekend in the Ussery home. Austin, Carianne and their adorable baby boy, Owen (who will be four months old on Saturday) came to stay with us for two nights over the weekend. They live in Lubbock and made their way to the Dallas area to let Owen meet some family and friends here - what a treat. They arrived at our house on Saturday after lunch and went home on Monday morning. We had a such wonderful time with the Billett family. We had so much fun that we failed to take too many pictures, but we did snap a few. We enjoyed lots of visiting (about ALL sorts of stuff), laughing and eating a variety of yummy food and dessert. We also played the Wii and a couple of games at the dinner table. We all went to church together on Sunday as well. It was a great weekend! Calvin wasn't too sure about Owen! He sought comfort, as always, from his fleece blankets. Here are a few pictures... Thank you Austin, Carianne and Owen for a fun-filled weekend! We look forward to s

Rangers Fever

Image
Last night, we had a quick dinner at Chick-fil-a after work and then went down the road for some after dinner coffee at Starbucks before our full evening. John had Men's Group at church and I had lots of "to dos" to tend to on the homefront. While we were at Starbucks, we took the Rangers baseball schedule along with my calendar and penciled in about 6 games that we hope to go to this season. We went to a few games last year and they are OH SO FUN! We enjoyed them very much and if we lived closer to the ballpark, we would probably go to a lot more. We have a certain section we like to sit in and yummy food we always get (hot dogs, nachos, cokes and ice cream in mini batting helmets). The ballpark is beautiful and even more enjoyable in the night air. There's all sorts of neat things they do throughout the game as well. I could go on and on...but it's just plain F-U-N! Looking at the schedule and marking games on the calendar gave us RANGERS FEVER! We also try to w

Sweet Spa Treat

Image
I've said it time and time again, my John is as sweet as can be! Last Saturday morning, I went over to help a friend from church design a homemade high school graduation invitation for her son. She didn't want to use the traditional school announcement that looks the same year after year...so she, another friend of her's and I put our heads togetther and came up with a wonderful layout and design. I cannot wait to see the finished product. It made me want to come home and scrapbook or make cards, but sadly I had too much else to do. However, I do have a Saturday planned coming up to scrapbook all day long! Back to my story, when I returned home about lunch time I came in my office to start working on a few things at my desk and I found a fantastic surprise... I actually snapped this pictures in the kitchen, but nevertheless I was so excited! John had bought me a gift card for a "Girl's Escape Package" at a local spa called Belfiore. It's a 4 1/2 hour &quo
