100 Months - 100 Memories

If you know John and I, you know that we love celebrating all of the milestones, anniversaries and memories in our life together. We like to make a big deal about special days. This may be a birthday or anniversary...or it may be planning a fun day for decorating the house for Christmas or celebrating with a themed meal for the start of football season or opening of baseball season.

We have our traditions, rituals and celebrations through the year and enjoy sharing them all. It makes life more fun and gives a reason to celebrate the good stuff in life - when there is so much yuck in the world today. Life can be hard and overwhelming for all of us, so times like these help our relationship stay happy and joy-filled. It may seem a little silly or over the top to some, but we enjoy all of our "special days" together.

Today, June 8, 2011, is our 100 MONTH ANNIVERSARY! That's right, we've be been married for 100 months. We accidentally discovered this after looking at the calendar a couple of months ago. It wasn't something we planned to know or purposely counted. We were married 8 years in February and I remember we talked about how that was 96 months and then thought with four more months we would be at the 100 month mark and we got a kick out of that.

In honor of it, we decided to make a "100 Months - 100 Memories" List. We've been on two trips in the last few weeks so we took advantage of time in the car on one of them to make this list. Once we got going, it took us less than 30 mintues - awesome! I numbered a couple of pieces of notebook paper 1 to 100 and we both just started naming memories from the beginning of our relationship until now. Like I said, a half hour later, we had 100 and probably could have kept going. We played a lot of "Remember when..." and thought of fond times and had lots of laughs. It was a great time spent on the road. Our memories revolved around our wedding, vacations, trips, sports, restaurants, date nights, holidays, movies, our home, TV shows, games, playing, weather, our faith, day to day activites, gifts, events attended...and more!

It's been a wonderful 100 months - we are thankful for the memories and blessed beyond measure! Again, I think it's important to play and have fun in life - especially with the love OF your life. I read a quote earlier that said "We don't stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing".

Until we meet again...
