Six Months

Parker Holt, you are six months old! Without our permission you have turned half a year old.

You went from this newborn babe in the hospital...
 To this one month old...
 To this two month old...
 To this three month old...
 To this four month old....
 To this five month old...
To this six month old...
You will have your six month check-up on Tuesday so we will know at that time how much you weigh and how long you are.  Based on a Mommy estimation, you are probably between 16-17 pounds and between 26-27" long, but we will see what Dr. Rester says on Tuesday.

You have been wearing size 2 diapers, but once we finish this package, we are bumping you up to size 3 diapers.  The size 2 diapers are starting to get a bit snug. You are wearing mostly 6 month clothing and working your way into 6-9 month clothing. There are a handful of 3-6 month items that still fit, but very few.

You eat about 5 times a day...about every 3 1/2 hours.  Due to various reasons, our breastfeeding days our over.  It makes Mommy very sad, but I'm glad we had the experience for almost 6 months.  You are on formula only now, but something new this week is we started giving you rice cereal (pictures below) homemade by Mommy.  (We also got your first meal on video too) You've eaten it a few times and we are planning on trying sweet potatoes and squash in the coming days - also made by Mommy.  I sure hope you like them. I have plans to make you avacado, peas, bananas and apples next week.  Right now you are eating food once a day, but we will move to twice a day in a week or so as we introduce you to all kinds of fruits and vegetables.

You continue to sleep well at night. You are still sleeping in the pack and play in Mommy and Daddy's room, but we are working on you sleeping in your crib at night.  Last week, you took all of your naps in your crib (pictures below) - such a big boy!  We are definitely working on the transition.  You tend to take several shorts naps through the day rather than one or two long naps.  Every once in a while, you might take a long morning or afternoon nap.

You have two teeth popping through on the bottom.  You've done pretty well overall with them coming in, but you've had your uncomfortable moments as well so we've kept the baby Orajel and teething rings at the ready.  Because of your teething though, most everything goes in your mouth.  If there aren't "chew things" nearby your fingers or feet are always available.

You rolled over from your back to tummy on August 18th so now you can roll both ways.  You can pretty much maneuver yourself into any position you want to. You are ALL over the place.  We'd better watch out when you start crawling.  You are on the brink of sitting up by yourself.  Scratch that, you CAN sit up by yourself, but just for a few minutes at a time and then you tip over.  We usually say "timber" whenever you fall over.  However, you are getting to where you can sit up for several minutes at a time.  We know it's just a matter of time before you can sit up without any help or without falling over.  We are anxious to see you sitting in the grocery cart.

You are so observant and curious.  No matter where we are, here at home or elsewhere, you are taking it all in.  Because of that you are twisting and turning to see everything in sight.  I think it's impossible for you to be still when being held or when laying on the floor.  You are really into grabbing and touching everything.  You also love to bang your hands on stuff.  You are quite the wiggle worm and so very active.  You are "talking" more and more every day.  You are SO FUN!  We are having a blast watching all you are doing these days.

You still love your exersaucer and play in it several times a day!

Playing in your pajamas - such a fun morning...

Parker's first nap in his crib.  Is there anything more precious than a sleeping baby? I think not.

 The making of rice cereal...
It's chow time for the first time...
 All tuckered out after playtime...
We had a Sunday School pool party a couple of Saturdays ago so you decided to sport your adorable octopus outfit.

This is Mommy at this exact time last year - 14 weeks pregnant with you.  At that time you were the size of a lemon and now look at you.  Amazing...God sure is good!
Parker Boy, we adore you so much and love you even more than that.  Your Daddy and I thoroughly enjoy watching you grow and change every day.  It seems like this past month you have reached many milestones and changed in your development so much.  I said it above and I'll say it again, you are lots o' fun.  Being your Mommy and Daddy is the best.

Until we meet again...
Riley
