Christmas Day 2014

This should be the last post to close out 2014 and then I can get back to catching up on life lately and various things going on around here.  I feel like if I could ever get caught up, I can maybe, get on track to blog every week or two (or three or four - ha!), but only time will tell.

I digress...let's go back and revisit Christmas Day!

With us being in our new house this year, we decided to spend Christmas at home rather than travel. As it was with Thanksgiving, we did miss our families, but we sure enjoyed our time at home.  It was a sweet and special day.

John and I woke up and drank a little coffee while we went through our stockings.  We each stuff each other's stockings with a card, a bit of candy and usually 3-4 fun stocking stuffers.  About that time, Parker woke up.

We had told him on Christmas Even night that Santa would be coming during the night and leaving a special surprise for him, so when we went in his room Christmas morning he sat up in bed and whispered "Santa" - I'll never forget it!

Our elf Jolly hung out with Parker's goodies from Santa.  Santa brought Parker a Thomas the Train potty (we are trying to get Parker potty trained so we thought this might help) and stuffed his stocking with a few little toys and some candy.  He also brought Parker a playhouse for the backyard.  He was so excited about all of his fun stuff.

After Parker enjoyed all of that for a little while, we let him open his three gifts from us and some gifts Mamaw and Gramps had sent.  We decided when Parker was born we would give him three packages to open since that's how many gifts Jesus got. (I didn't do too well taking pictures of gift opening because I was too busy watching him). Trust me though, he had a ball.
After gifts, we had fruit turnovers and powdered sugar donuts for breakfast - the donuts were a hit with P.

While Parker napped that afternoon, John and I exchanged gifts from one another.  Always a good time!

After Parker's napped, he wanted to play outside in his new play house and with some of his toys.

I made us a Christmas dinner for supper that night - ham, a few vegetables/sides and rolls...and of course there was pie - mmm!

It was a quiet day at home with our little family of three, but it was a day full of memories and so special.  I'm grateful for another year with these two boys that fill my life with joy.

Here's hoping 2015 is a fantastic year!

Until we meet again...
Riley
