Weekend in Lubbock!

Image
We had a great weekend visiting our friends Carianne and Austin in Lubbock! We got there late Thursday night and headed back home on Sunday morning. We ate, shopped, played games, ate some more (haha!), talked, baked...the guys watched a movie and played some video games while the girls worked on a few "projects" for the Ussery house. It was a good time! Carianne and Austin are expecting their first child in November so we also went walking around Baby Depot and were overwhelmed with ALL the baby stuff out there - so fun though! We did lots of talking about "baby" over the weekend. It's such an exciting time for them and we got to see their first sonogram. Carianne and I have been the best of friends since the 10th grade - I was 15 and she was 14 the summer of 1994 when we met in summer band. This year marks the 15th year of our friendship! I remember how we were both convinced that neither one of us would ever get married and now she's having a baby - so ...

Engagement Anniversary!

Seven years ago today, April 16, 2002, we were engaged! Oh what a happy day...we really feel it is important to celebrate all of the little "anniversaries" in our relationship - when we started talking, when we met, when we got engaged, when we got married (obviously) and so on! Every morning we say a prayer before I make the commute to work and John thanked God that I said "YES" seven years ago today - so sweet! We didn't date very long before getting engaged, but when you know - you know!! It was the best decision I ever made and the easiest one as well! I know every wife says this, but John truly is the most wonderful, amazing husband in so many ways! He treats me so well and does so many things for me. He always has my best interest at heart and never fails to make sure I know how much he loves me! I love you to the moon and back, John Douglas Ussery and thank you for asking me to be your wife seven years ago today! Here is the engagement picture we took f...

HAPPY EASTER!

Image
We are having a really nice day today - the much needed rain has passed and now the sun is peaking through the clouds. We had a wonderful morning at church enjoying brunch and an awesome worship service. It's just the two of us, but we are preparing an Easter feast for dinner - yum! We've had a great weekend and hope you have as well. We look forward to a new week and then on Thursday night we are driving out to Lubbock to visit our friends Carianne & Austin. Should be a fun time! Until we meet again... John & Riley

HOLY WEEK

Image
We just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a HAPPY EASTER! As we approach the day of celebrating our Lord's triumph over death, may we take time to express our gratitude for all that He endured leading up to that glorious victory...pain, agony, torture, persecution, and betrayal all on our behalf! Thanks be to God for His Son and for the forgiveness and life we have in Him! We are really looking foward to Easter weekend...such a wonderful time. Have a great Holy Week! Until we meet again... Riley & John

At the old ball game

Tomorrow (April 5th) marks the beginning of baseball season! We have come to love baseball more and more each season that comes our way. Yes, Yes...it is a LONG season, the games themselves are lengthy and the games really don't matter until later in the season, but all of that being said - we really enjoy following the games, teams, players, trades, injuries and so on - all season long! Besides all of that - it's nice to have something to fill the football void in our lives! Living in the Dallas area, it's been great fun to take in a few Rangers games! Here is a picture of us when they were playing the Mariners... Of course we have a good time enjoying the game plus nothing beats ballpark food! We are looking foward to going to a couple of Ranger games this year. In May 2007, we took a trip to St. Louis to watch our favorite team...the CARDINALS ! We had SO much fun on that trip, enjoyed all sorts of "touristy" things and also had a blast at the game (even thoug...
