What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I am linking up with Jamie today for "What I'm Loving Wednesday". What a fun, mid-week activity to reflect on a few things making your heart happy.

I'm loving that the Texas Rangers are playing in their first WORLD SERIES ever starting tonight! GO RANGERS - Beat those San Francisco Giants!! There is such excitement here in the Dallas area. John and I have been faithful Ranger fans all year, watching just about every game and we went to a few as well. We are hoping for sweet victory!
I'm loving the devotional study we are working on right now. It was created by Focus on the Family as part of their "Essentials of Marriage" series. This one is called, "Who Did You Really Marry?" - which covers topics such as communication, personality types and love languages. We do a devotional every Tuesday night and we are really enjoing this study - we've learned a lot and laughed a lot. It also has DVD lessons with it which are really good. We are about halfway done and plan on doing more in this series once we have completed this one.

I'm loving that after our devotional last night we watched "The Great Pumpkin" - a Peanuts gang classic. John loves the Peanuts gang and it's tradition that we watch all of their holiday specials. We popped the DVD in last night and enjoyed it with a cup of coffee - it was a nice night. I'm loving that we are leaving town tomorrow afternoon for a weekend trip to visit my family and go to a high school football game - an annual tradition! I haven't been home since May - wow! I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone. We go back home each year to watch my high school, the Odessa Bronchos, play the cross-town rival Permian Panthers. Ever heard of Friday Night Lights? That's them!! This picture is from two years ago...

I'm loving that we will be back home on Sunday in time to pass out Halloween candy. We have so much fun doing that every year and we get a lot of trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood. We also try to keep a count of how many we have. I will count them as John hands out candy and vice versa. Last year, we had 161 trick-or-treaters, but we ran out of candy. You can read about Halloween 2009 here. Since we will be leaving town tomorrow and just getting back into town Sunday afternoon, I already have our candy ready to go on the entry way bench.I'm loving these next two months - November and December. With all sorts of holiday fun surrounding Thanksgiving and Christmas and the weeks in between, this is definitely my favorite time of year. We have lots of fun plans over these next several weeks. It's a busy time, but so worth it!

And as always, I'm loving my incredible, amazing blessing from God - my husband, John! He's all that I ever prayed for and more! I feel so lucky each and every day that I get to be his wife. God has blessed us abundantly in our life together! In just a little over 3 months we'll be celebrating 8 years of marriage - how sweet!

Happy Wednesday ~ hope you're loving something today!
Until we meet again...

WORLD SERIES - HERE WE COME!!

The TEXAS RANGERS are the American League Champions! They took down the "mighty" Yankees in dominating fashion. The game Friday night was SO EXCITING and ELECTRIC - full of unbelievable energy. What a game and what a series - the Rangers sure deserve it. How sweet it was to take down the Yankees - $210 Million BUST! Next stop, the San Francisco Giants in the World Series! Game 1 is Wednesday night in San Francisco. The Rangers are doing so well and have a VERY good chance to win - it should be a great World Series.

Let's GO RANGERS!!

Until we meet again...

Deck the Halls for Fall

I heart Fall ~ its's by far my favorite season! I vote for Fall all year long. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. Nevertheless, there are signs of fall throughout our house and I recently added a couple of Halloween decor items until the end of October. Next month, I'll pack up the Halloween stuff and pull out a few Thanksgiving decorations. I've been burning a lot of candles too which makes the house smell so good and it creates a nice warm and cozy feel.

Come on in...

In a little over a month, all of this will be packed up to make room for all of our Christmas decorations - wow, this has been a super fast year! These next couple of months are going to be lots of fun!

Happy Weekend ~ Until we meet again...

GO RANGERS!

Today is a special day! The Texas Rangers are playing in their first post-season baseball game in 11 years. We have enjoyed watching just about every game this season - it's been a fun year. The Rangers are a great team and a really good group of guys. John and I made it to a few games this season and watched most of the others at home. What a ride! We hope they have great success in the playoffs.

They will the Tampa Bay Rays starting today in a "best of 5" series. The first two games are in Tampa Bay and the next two here and then back to Tampa - all if necessary. The first one to win 3 games will move on to the next series which will put them one step closer to the World Series.

We are ROOT, ROOT, ROOTING for our TEXAS RANGERS!
Until we meet again...

Things to be Happy About ~ September Edition

Hooray - it's October and FALL! It's time to post about my "things to be happy about" from September. If you are new to this, I received a bright yellow, page-a-day desk calendar for Christmas last year and it sits on my desk at work. Each day the page lists various things to be happy about. Throughout the month I keep up with my favorite things the pages list and blog about them at the end of the month explaining why it makes me happy. I'm definitely a person who finds happiness in the littlest of things and so many things excite me. I'm easily pleased. If you want to catch up, click here. That will take you to last months post and give you a chance to click on previous months as well. I started this in January so you can always look through my archive as well.

Here are my September things to be happy about...
  • Toasting Marshmallows ~ I was just talking with my Mom about this a couple of days ago. These are SO delicious - ooey gooey goodness. I personally like to let mine catch on fire - I really like them toasted!
  • Freshly Caught Seafood ~ I love seafood anyway, but when it's freshly caught the flavor is so different and good.
  • Organizaitional Savvy ~ It makes me happy that God blessed me with a "know-how" for organizing - it's one of my favorite things to do.
  • Fresh Block of Cheddar Cheese ~ I know it's weird, but I heart cheese (as does John) and it's especially nice when it's a fresh new block for cutting and eating - mmm!
  • Magazine Subscriptions ~ I subscribe to three magazines and am debating about a fourth and I love when one of them arrives. It's a nice surprise in the mail when you never know when it might show up.
  • Clean Baby Smell ~ Who doesn't love this? It's one of the best smells ever!
  • Buying Pumpkins for Carving ~ A fun fall activity! We bought a pumpkin this weekend and hopefully can carve it up later this month for Halloween.
  • Grade School Memories ~ It's fun every now and again to play "remember when" from when you were back in elementary school.
  • "Little Women" ~ This is one of my favorite books of all time. I love the movie (from 1949) and the play as well - such a classic.
  • Pepperoni Pizza ~ Quite possible my favorite food...or one of my top favorites. Yum-O!
  • Driving with NO Traffic ~ As a person that commutes to work, it's awesome when there is little to no traffic and I have a smooth ride into the office.
  • Pay Day ~ Again, who doesn't love this?!
  • Falling Asleep Instantly ~ There's nothing like crawling into bed and falling into a deep sleep as soon as your head hits the pillow.
  • Music that Lifts Your Mood ~ I love music that really helps lift your spirits and makes you smile.
  • Mushrooms Sauteing in Olive Oil ~ My mouth is watering - I love sauted mushrooms (my husband does not - haha).
  • Sweater Weather ~ It's the most wonderful time of the year! Sweaters are one of my favorite things to wear - cute and cozy. We aren't quite there, but getting closer. I have all of mine ready to go and even have two new ones to wear.
  • Autumn's Explosion of Color ~ One of the best things about autumn is the changing of leaf colors, pumpkins, fall mums - so many warm colors.
  • Chili & Corn Bread ~ The is one of the best comfort foods! A pot of chili and a cast iron skillet of corn bread - a perfect fall food combination.
  • The Winning Touchdown ~ We are a football family so we find lots of excitement in celebrating that touchdown that wins the game - high school, college and NFL. The Razorbacks had one about two weeks ago right at the end of the game.
  • Evenly Flowing Pens ~ I get very annoyed with pens that don't write smoothly so it makes me happy to find a good pen that writes really well.
  • Short Work Week ~ I'm very thankful for a good job, but having a day off during the week and a shortened work week is nice!
  • Caramel Apples ~ Another tasty treat of fall! I haven't made or had these in so long, but they are tasty. Also, we LOVE the Caramel Apple hand soap from Bath & Body Works - it smells heavenly!
  • Getting your Car Washed ~ A clean car makes me very happy. Hey - I said I am easily pleased.
  • Cheering Your Team to Victory ~ All sports and all levels, we all have "our teams" and it's so fun to root from them at the game in person or in the comfort of your living room.
  • Family Traditions ~ John and I both treasure different family traditions that we grew up with and have made them a part of our life and we have created many of our own family traditions in our seven and a half years of marriage.

I hope you find something to be happy about each and everyday - Happy October!
Until we meet again...
