14 Weeks

I liked the first picture better, but my t-shirt was bunched up at the bottom so it makes me look a little bigger than I am, so I pulled my shirt down more in the second picture. Now that that's out of the way - haha...

I am: 14 weeks pregnant - my second trimester starts this week!
Size of Baby: Baby Ussery is the size of a lemon
Total Weight Gained: No weight gained yet
Maternity Clothes: I have a nice collection started. I also have several tops that aren't "maternity", but will work well when I get bigger. I'm wearing maternity jeans in this picture. My other jeans are just a tad tight. These are a little big right now, but very comfy!
Gender: We don't know yet, but will find out in early October - can't wait...only about 5-6 weeks.
Name: We have our names picked out, but waiting to reveal his or her name once we find out.
Movement: No movement yet
Sleep: Overall, I'm sleeping really good.
What I Miss: (I decided I would try to think of something specific from the past week that I missed instead of items in general.) Last week, I went to lunch with two friends and I wasn't able to order the caesar salad because of possible raw eggs in the dressing - bummer. It sounded so delicious! I also missed my energy last week. I'm not sure where it went, haha. I'm feeling much better now, but there was a day last week, Thursday I believe, where I had absolutely no energy. I litterally sat and laid around all day and watched tv. I never do that. John even cooked dinner and cleaned up the kitchen. So thankful for him! I'm not sure if I just overdid it the day before or it was just one of those days.
Cravings: No cravings yet
How I'm Feeling: I am feeling really good! Except for my zero energy day last week and a day of some intense heartburn, I'm feeling swell.
Best Moment last Week: As I mentioned earlier, I had lunch with my two sweet friends Susie and Syliva last week and we had lots of fun - yummy food and a great talk. We meet once a month for lunch and it's always a wonderful time. We talked a lot about baby stuff and it was really neat to get to answer all of their questions. They've been such a support through our struggles so they are thrilled beyond belief for us. Also, we bought our little one their first Dallas Cowboys onesie. Even though we don't know if we are having a boy or girl, this outfit should work either way. A boy can definitely pull it off being navy and white and a girl could too, especially if she has a cute white headband or bow on!
John was off today because he has to work this Saturday. We had a wonderful morning out - a date day. We went to Starbucks for cappuccinos (don't worry, mine was decaf!), then we did some shopping, had lunch and bought our groceries for the week. A bonus was the fact that it rained a little this morning and then was overcast until early afternoon, so it was cloudy and in the 80s. WOW, it was so nice! A very welcomed change in the weather. It's now sunny and 95, but better than 105.

Until we meet again...

I Can Smell The Pigskin

If you know me at all, you won't ask me to profess my love for FOOTBALL. You already know the love and passion I have for the greatest sport ever! (Insert my husband's plea for baseball as the greatest sport ever, although he loves football almost as much as I do). Nevertheless, it's that glorious time of year and we ARE ready for some football.

High school football in Texas kicked off last night. There's nothing quite like the sight of stadium lights in the distance or the sound of marching bands and annoucers coming from the stadium. My Bronchos are playing in Odessa as I type, although it's not looking too good thus far - ouch. We have plans to go to a Royse City Bulldog game in a couple of weeks. It should be a fun Friday night. If all goes according to plan, we will make our way to Odessa at the end of October to watch the Bronchos battle the Panthers in the annual cross-town rival game. I can taste the cotton candy now.

College football will start next week. ESPN's College Gameday is kicking off their season here in Dallas next Saturday morning. LSU and Oregon are playing that night at Cowboys stadium. We are ready for our Saturdays to be filled with non-stop college action. Not that we just sit around and watch football all day on Saturday, but it's there for the taking all day long!

And thank goodness...DING DONG the lockout is dead! I'm so happy that the lockout ended in time for NFL football this fall. We've enjoyed a little bit of pre-season, but very ready for the real deal. The NFL regular season will start on Thursday, September 8th. We've had a tradition in the Ussery house for several years that we order pizza for the first game of the season and this year will be no different. We plan to continue this tradition as long as we can! The Cowboys' first game is on Sunday Night Football on September 11th. We already have a "snack night" planned for that night. Oh I can hardly stand the excitement. Since I have a little one growing inside of me, I'll have to learn to take it a little easier this season. I tend to get pretty animated during games - screaming and jumping about...or yelling and getting my heart rate up. This will be an adjustment - haha!

Tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 is our Fantasy Football draft. I'm super excited! I love our Fantasy Football league because it's all family (12 members) so it's oodles of fun to play aganist each other and "trash talk", but in a loving way! We've been playing Fantasy Football for several years and just love it. It adds another way to keep up with all that's going on in the NFL. Unfortunately, I didn't have the best team last year, but it was still enjoyable. Let's hope this year is like 2007 when I won it all! John may have plans of his own too...he's won it twice.

On a COMPLETELY different note, I had to share about a gift I received yesterday. My thoughtful husband blessed me with a Willow Tree figurine to symbolize our season of life right now ~ pregnancy. It's called "HOME" and the card with it says "Together, our family is home". One description online said, "A couple holds one another and admires the miracle that pregnancy brings. The creation of a family and home to love and to hold. For wherever our family is, so is our home."

We have two Willow Tree figurines already - one we received as a wedding present and one I gave John for an anniversary. The are beautiful and so special! Thank you again, my dear. We've displayed it in the living room next to our sonogram picture.

Happy Saturday!

Until we meet again...

13 Weeks & Office Update

I am: 13 weeks pregnant
Size of Baby: Baby Ussery is the size of a jumbo shrimp
Total Weight Gained: No weight gained yet
Maternity Clothes: My Mom (a.k.a. "Mamaw") and I together have purchased a few pieces of clothing so I have a good collection started. I also have several tops that aren't "maternity", but will work well when I get bigger.
Gender: We don't know yet, but will find out in early October - can't wait! It's fun to hear what everyone thinks it will be.
Name: We have our names picked out, but waiting to reveal his or her name once we find out.
Movement: No movement yet
Sleep: Overall, I'm sleeping really good.
What I Miss: Raw cookie dough, caffeine, feta cheese and fried eggs - I haven't missed these things TOO much, but every once in a while I wish I could have them.
Cravings: No cravings yet
How I'm Feeling: I am feeling really good! I've been a little more tired the past couple of weeks, but nothing other than that.
Best Moment this Week: We had our second appointment last Tuesday and everything still looks good. The heartbeat is still strong and my blood work checked out good. We go back to the doctor on September 12th to meet with the doctor and for more blood work. We also walked around Babies R Us after dinner the other night. We were overwhelmed with everything, but so fun and exciting too!

We also spent time converting my office into an office/guest room last week. (You can click here to see an old post with "before" pictures of my office.) Our current guest room will become the baby's room. We wanted to rearrange my office to make room for a bed for our guests to sleep in. We have a long list of projects to do around the house and a lot of them have to do with rearranging and redoing rooms and closets.

I started working on my office last week going through every drawer, shelf, box, cabinet, container, rolling cart, basket...you get the idea. I cleaned EVERYTHING out!! I threw a lot of stuff away and added several other things to the garage sale pile. It felt really good to sort through every.single.item in this office and get it reorganized! Our wrapping supplies have never looked so good - hah! After all of that, I enlisted my super sweet husband's help to move the furniture around for me. Below are a few "after" pictures. We really liked how it turned out. It's a comfortable place for a guest to sleep and watch tv plus I can still work in there as my office and access all of my craft supplies easily. It's a tight fit, but still easy to get around in. The pictures aren't as good as it looks it person, but it'll do. I also might do some rearranging of pictures and hang a few other things.

One project down!! Now I need to pack up a few things in the baby's room (old guest room) and sort through all of the stuff we put in there just to get it out of the way. We want to get that room as cleaned out as possible so we can paint it in early October!

I know "baby stuff" is all I have blogged about lately, but I do plan to blog about other things too in the coming weeks and months! I haven't had a whole lot of time for blogging lately, so I've just been doing my weekly posts. I plan to blog about all of our baby news, but also know that football is on it's way, the baseball playoffs are less than 2 months away, the holidays will be here before we know it and cooler weather is bound to come sometime!! Lots of good stuff going on and coming up...we are getting into my favorite time of year! I know there are a few pictures I haven't posted either - one day at a time though.

Until we meet again...

12 Weeks

I am 12 weeks pregnant!

Here's what's going on...
I am: 12 weeks pregnant
Size of Baby: Baby Ussery is the size of a lime
Total Weight Gained: I really haven't gained any weight yet. I actually lost a couple of pounds in the first few weeks, which is normal, plus I was walking daily and eating really well. I have put back on those 4 pounds, but still weigh about the same as I did before we got pregnant.
Maternity Clothes: My Mom a.k.a. "Mamaw" and I together have purchased a few pieces of clothing so I have a good collection started. There are a couple pairs of jeans that are a tad too tight, but I'm wearing them with a belly band.
I usually get up once or twice in the night to go the bathroom and sometimes have a hard time going back to sleep, but not too bad.
What I Miss: Getting to sample the raw cookie dough when I've made my chocolate chip cookies or maybe caffeine. I really thought giving up caffeine would bother me more than it has, but it hasn't been TOO bad. I've had a few decaf drinks, so it's worked out fine. I also miss feta cheese...oh and fried eggs.
Cravings: No cravings yet
How I'm Feeling: I am feeling really good!! Except for getting a little more tired here and there, I'm feel great and SO thankful. I've had zero morning sickness or nausea, so I'm definitely counting my blessings.
Best Moment this Week: We just got back from visiting John's family in Arkansas (for the first time since we found out we were pregnant), so it was neat to talk about it with all of the family and look at "baby stuff" online. John's Dad a.k.a. "Grandad" (and of course Grandma too) generously offered to buy our car seat so we looked at several online - trying to find the best one for us.

We had our second appointment yesterday. The appointment went well - did blood work and pelvic exam. Went over a lot of information and questions. The heartbeat is still strong - no sonogram, but got to hear the heartbeat again. The blood work is the first round to check for various conditions. They will go over blood work at my next appointment unless something is abnormal - fingers crossed and prayers lifted that all that is okay with that. We go back to the doctor on September 12th for more blood work (to check for other conditions) and see the doctor...then in early October we'll find out what the baby is! I was hoping it would be late Septermber, but looks like it'll be the first or second week of October. We are anxious, but don't want to rush time!

As we have time, we are going to work on my office - making it into an office/guest room. There is downsizing to do and furniture to rearrange...plus several thing to get rid of or pack up. The baby's room will be where our guest room is currently. We want to have the baby's room empty and ready for painting by mid-October. In between now and then we can make our final decisions on baby bedding and paint colors - so much fun!

Until we meet again...

11 weeks

As of yesterday, I am 11 weeks! I have added a pregnancy tracker to the side of our blog. Look for the pregnant lady in the green box in the right column.

Since we announced we were pregnant, we have received SO many sweet e-mails, cards and phone calls. It was a rush of well wishes and congratulations. AWESOME! I hope to keep up with my/our weekly progress through pictures and "stats". We'll see how it goes.

With that being said...

I am: 11 weeks pregnant
Size of Baby: Baby Ussery is the size of a fig
Total Weight Gained: I really haven't gained any weight. I actually lost about 4 pounds in the first few weeks, which is normal, plus I was walking daily and eating really well. I have put back on those 4 pounds, but still weigh about the same as I did before we got pregnant.
Maternity Clothes: Thanks to my Mom, I have a nice little collection started. There are a couple pairs of jeans that are too tight, but I'm wearing them with a belly band.
Gender: We don't know yet, but will find out late-September.
Name: We have our names picked out, but waiting to reveal his or her name once we find out.
Movement: No movement yet
Sleep: I was a little restless at first and waking up a lot (and having a hard time going back to sleep), but I think my mind was racing. I am starting to sleep much better now.
What I Miss: Hmmm, maybe getting to sample the raw cookie dough when I've made my chocolate chip cookies or caffeine. I really thought giving up caffeine would bother me more than it has, but it hasn't been TOO bad. I've had a few decaf drinks, so it's worked out fine. I also miss feta cheese.
Cravings: No cravings yet
How I'm Feeling: I am feeling really good!! Except for a little less energy these past few days, I'm feel great and SO thankful. I've had zero morning sickness or nausea, so I'm definitely counting my blessings.
Best Moment this Week: We just got back from a Family Reunion and it was so neat to have everyone congratulate us and ask how I was feeling. It was fun to have them all sharing in our joy and excitement.

Our next appointment is August 16th, so we are looking forward to that. We have a long "Before Baby Comes" list so as I have free time, I'm trying to work on it. It consists of house projects to tackle, nursery preparations, garage sale planning, things to buy and order, pictures and notes to take, crafts...you get the idea! It's quite a list, but it'll be a big help. It's such an exciting time, matched with football on it's way, cooler weather around the corner and holidays a few months away - it will be a FUN FALL! We can't wait...

Here are a few pictures. I have a tiny little belly. Depending on what I'm wearing, sometimes it's easier to see than others. You can tell more in my 10 week picture than my 11th for some reason.

9 WEEKS

10 WEEKS

11 WEEKSHere is our first sonogram...

My Mom came to visit us for a few days in mid-July and then I went back to Odessa with her for a week. We had such a great time! When I got back, we had a few days before we went to pick up our nephew Scottie (he's 6 and entering 1st grade this year). He came to stay with us for a couple of days (it was such a delight having him here) and then we took him back with us to the Family Reunion we just returned from. We are leaving Thursday to go visit our family in Arkansas and we will be back on Monday. WHEW!! It's been a busy several weeks, but lots of fun. After we get back from Arkansas, we should be staying put for a little while. John is busy with work and school and I always have plenty to do to keep me busy everyday, plus working on our "baby" list. It'll be nice to have a normal routine for a few weeks and get caught up on several things.

Until we meet again...
